I just switched to a new school that actually got hundreds of new students because of another school closing down and some rezoning that occurred. I moved to an apartment in this zone, so that's why I'm here.

Anyway, in middle school, I spent the first days not talking to anyone on the bus, and then it stayed like that through the rest of middle school, except for a few days when my one of my best friends would ride the bus. My freshman year of high school, however, went well because I got to spend the bus ride with one of my best friends, my childhood friend, my old neighborhood friend, and a guy that was in that group before I got to high school.

Now that I'm back to not having anybody who I know here, I don't want to start off bad and end up like I did in middle school. So far, nobody has sat with me on the bus this school year, which I'm glad, so I can prepare. Today is my second day of my sophomore year.

I ride the bus for a little over 40 minutes in the morning and a little over an hour in the afternoon. Extremely luckily, this isn't one of the more loud, crazy busses I've been on. It's quite serene, with the exception of a fight that happened in the back of the bus just now. It's just not generally a ruckus.

I want to know what to do when someone does sit down with me on the bus, and maybe even when I find somewhere to sit at lunch. I mostly want to know what to do on the bus though because at lunch I have wifi, so I can eat and message my boyfriend and be happy.

What do I say when they sit down? What do I say after they've adjusted themselves into the seat if they haven't got earphones in supposedly listening to music? What do I bring up? How (in what way with words) do I say it? Just... what do I do??

I'm fine a lot of times just sitting here, but I feel like one day, when I'm thinking about when I used to ride the bus with my friends, I will miss it and want that kind of entertainment for a change, even though sometimes on the bus with my friends, I still didn't always participate in the vocal games they would play. It was still nice knowing that I could.

You could start by saying hi and introduce yourself to them. You could talk about your interests and hobbies and ask them about what they are interested in to find out if you have anything in common. If you are into music you could ask them what their favorite songs are or something like that. If another school has closed down there will be more new students and you will have more opportunities to make friends. Good luck and I hope this helps.
