I just changed schools, and people constantly want to talk to me. Especially when I'm reading. It's so annoying! I don't want them to hate me, but I just want to be ignored. How do I do that?

I find it annoying, and then when you do not talk to them (I tend to fit the mold for "attractive" and just have a restricted loner lifestyle obsessive about my neat and clean appearance etc.) they assume that you are rude for wanting to be left alone, theres apparently some polite way of dealing with this issue and I personally don't know. My school issues are like having partners in a project and they say they'll call me so I don't bother calling them and then apparently I should call them but instead wait by the phone and then the partners and teacher end up panicky over some project that takes ten minutes for me to do alone and it makes them look like idiots because they blame me for their problems... irresponsibility

I don't think you have any control over that.

If you talk to them, they go away.

Come into school with a fancy book none of them have ever heard of, then when they try to talk to you, talk about the book you're reading. It shows that you have so much itnerest in the book, it's pretty much all you can think about.

Have a strong curry the night before and fart rather loudly as soon as they get near... :P

If you take up smoking, there'll be a lot of people who won't want to be near you haha. That's only if you don't mind the possible health problems later in life.

You could also wear a suit and slick your hair back. People might find it so odd, that they won't bother trying to talk to you.

Or if you're reading, and someone talks to you, just grunt in a slightly irritated way.

Just a few suggestions

If you read at the same spot every day, try to change places.

My two cents.

It isn't all that easy to get people to ignore you. Most of the time, they will like you, or they will dislike you. Usually it takes hate or disgust to get an ignore response, and you already said you didn't want the hate aspect.

GOF's Law = Other people will always subconciously do what you what you don't want them to do.

According to GOF's law this means that if you want them to talk to you they will stay away and ignore you. Humans suck.

Haha, People are like cats. They want attention from people that aren't paying attention to them.

This is so true... Whenever I am shopping, reading from a list as I go, scrutinizing the aisles for my products, there is always some idiot who wants to talk to me. Then I have to remember what I was doing. If I am really overloaded, I just ignore them. Why sacrifice my peace of mind to appease their ego?

If they try to talk to you, set them on fire.

That usually works.
