Severity of the disorder in relation to social harmony

I feel like this question can't be as posed as well with just myself, because I'm not sure if I have Aspergers or not. And if I did, I'm capable of functioning perfectly well if I abandon my quirks that I'm considered weird for

I was just wondering, is there anyone here with the severity of this condition that causes them to not have to deal with social etiquette?

I'm guessing not so far, as the very definition of Aspergers would be high-functioning autism. But another question that many others can relate to than the above one:

Do you ever wish your condition was more severe, so you had an excuse for your actions?

I mean, not having to worry about common interactions in even the most basic of settings? Do you envy anyone with severe-enough autism that doesn't have to go through this?

I have to say I do, though theoretically someone could mimic a severe disorder and avoid said encounters. I do understand that even a neurotypical can avoid socializing, but there comes a point where they're required to interact in a certain minimum. To give a general example that isn't true in all cases, neurotypicals would have to act accordingly to be polite at a family gathering.

And for a question more along the lines of research than a simple interview:

Are autistics more capable of turning off their empathy than the average neurotypical person? From what I've read, they gather information empirically, rather than simple reading of body language--thus they do feel a normal amount.

From my experience, meeting other Aspies and reading a lot, it would seem to me that if you are so severe that you cannot function/don't have to deal, you have something "worse" than Asperger's. You kind of said that in your post, and I would agree.
