Is this normal? Am I just a control freak?

I tend to keep different parts of my life quite separate. There's my work life, my family life and (when I have had one) friends. I seem to put firewalls between each part so that what is happening in one area does not affect another. I tend to be uncomfortable about mixing these things. I'm very guarded about discussing what's going on in one area with people from another. I find Facebook unsettling for this reason (amongst others) because everything gets mixed together. I guess I'm afraid I'm going to do something wrong and want to limit how far the fallout travels.

This is how I operate, compartmentalisation.

I recommend not mixing too much, as it simplifies the social dynamic.

I don't use facebook.

I don't think of it like firewalls, becuase I have done it in such a way that they are not likely to cross paths anyway.

I don't control them, I wouldn't be able to to. They are free agents, and besides the majority of the time I'm not with people, as i get benefit from a small amount social interaction.
