I have speech and occupational therapy. I also take social skills classes. But I am still quite socially impaired.

People seem to think I am weird and are scared of me. Apparently talking to myself is not socially acceptable. I also do not understand sarcasm and I pretend to understand jokes.

I also stim a lot. Which causes people to feel uncomfortable

The good news is that you know or at least have ideas as to why your having social problems. The next thing to do is to try & work on those issues as best you can. I used to stim & talk to myself alot too but I don't do it that much nowadays. I kind of learned to force myself to stop. Also being less stressed(partly cuz of meds & partly because of being in a better environment) also made it easier for me to break/change some bad habits.

Wow I'm kind of more the opposite now at 29. I don't go out as much so I don't get burnt out socially. I can't get off the laptop or even the bed most days and I can go much longer 24 hours researching interest topics. I'm not sure what it is but my stims have even gotten worse than ever. I sometimes a sack of sleep makes my senses play up bad and thats when the stims start to pick up.

Sure I couldn't act like this around other people, but keeping up the constant social normalcies becomes so exhausting. Its strange actually because as a kid I was always really over the top and loved to socialise, still pretty s**t at social cues back then but I was totally bossy and answer of peoples boundaries or needs. Very different to a lot of Aspies. Now I'm still an extravert, just with a little social-phobia and agoraphobia and now says I just want to sit alone and learn.

I'm having a bit of trouble myself. Just need to get advice from people who know you well like you O.T. or your parents. I asked my Mom and she said just to work on it as much as possible but don't get too overwhelmed.
