What kind of rewards and punishments did you get at home, work, school, or anywhere else, and what did you allegedly do to earn them?

abuse! It is sad and scary to think about it. Unrealistic expectations and always general in nature, not specific or clear enough for me to act on. constant shaming, blaming, when I was quite young a lot of physical abuse too. I learned what NOT to do when my kids came along. I am wondering if you are re-living your own childhood or if you are thinking about how to apply consequences to your own kids? Or??? Do you want to talk more about it here?

I didn't get too many rewards, awards, etc.....though I got some in school. Mostly punishments, though. Like getting thrown out of class and told to go to the principal's office.

At work, I got "merit increases" until 1984----but after that, only union salary raises. I wasn't "punished" because I didn't do much "wrong."

My parents verbally abused me for talking about my special interests all the time. My mum yelled at me at the top of her lungs for having accidents once I started preschool. I was also yelled at for crying and I was told to go to my room or that I was going to get something to cry about. I also got my fair share of spankings. My mum once spanked me for slamming my bedroom door when I was sent to my room. I also had toys taken away from me. My dad also mocked me with an ignorant sounding voice.

When I'm at my parents place, I only speak if I really feel like speaking.

It also turned out that I ended up needing to wear pull-ups for #2. Whenever the first commercials for Depend's would come on the TV, my sister and I would be laughing our heads off. My mum would tell us not to laugh. Some people have bladder problems. One time my mum got really pissed off at us and said, "Shelby (my name), you might need Depend's one day!"
