I've saved it. I don't know how to do it, and am sort of bothered by the whole concept. Always have been (disturbs me the same way the "how are you" question does).

Oh. Wow, that is useful.

Actually, it sounds like a pretty good guideline for knowing that to say in that kind of situation too, something I always find taxing.

Yeah, it's always been confusing to me. It's been to the point where I'd rather not get something if it means I have to figure out how to write a note like that. (I think my thinking used to be "of course I would be thankful I was given 'x', so why would the person need me to tell them that?)

Yeah, exactly. I still can't believe I made it into my 20's before knowing that question was just random noise and they don't actually care how you are :D

The only thank you note I ever wrote was when I received a stationary set as a gift. I though what better thing to do with it than use it and thank them for it all at the same time.
