I like knowing where people live here on WP, I really enjoy looking at the Location and knowing where the person lives who I am responding or connecting with.

I feel this gives me a greater sense of connection with the other, and was wondering if others feel the same?

Sometimes I also want to know a more precise location. Especially when it only says Europe or US.

But some people also want some privacy. I did not put my exact location here because The Netherlands can be a small place...

I don't expect or particularly want people to make their exact location known. It is nice to have a general idea of where they post from as that can reflect their answers.

I totally agree. Having a location listed makes you seem more "real"

Am I real now? I changed my profile to show my general location...and still be vague enough for privacy.
I feel real anyway.

I like having a general idea of where my fellow WPers are posting from. :)

It is useful to know where people are posting from and does make them more 'real' especially if there from a couple of miles down the road :)

BTW criss/other west Londoners sorry I did not make the pub Thursday.

Thankx everyone.

I was reflecting on this Location thing today, and I was thinking how I think in pictures and locations, I rarely forget where a person is from, and often when I think of a friend or member from here, I can go over in my head the route to my place to theirs. This simple thing brings me great joy and happiness.

It's like my head has a google earth type thing. Interestingly, when I first saw google-earth i cried, I found it so beautiful to see the interconnectedness of the world and the routes to all those people I connect with.

Well I don't really mind, there is a very slim chance I will meet anyone IRL anyway as i'm in such a small country.

No, because no one lives in the same town as me.

I don't really care, but it is neat to see we've got people from all around the world here.
