Hi, I am a talker.

I like to talk and make complete sentences.

I dnt liek dis txting w all da b grmr, omg omg

Texting, in my opinion, is analogous to Orwellian Newspeak, where a populous can't seek creativity and meaning to language. Because of this, they remain enslaved from their own mind. But that may just be me.

Y do u txt?

I text during the day because it's free on my plan. That said I can't stand it when people send messages like that. When I send SMSes I usually write in full sentences, which usually makes them go over 160 characters so they get split, but most of the carriers here don't charge for incoming SMS so it's not a big issue.

That and I usually don't like talking on the phone, as it tends to be a bigger distraction from what I'm doing at any given time. You can send a quick text and jump right back to whatever it was you were doing before, while a phone call pretty much requires your complete attention.

It's easier for me to text and as Corvillus stated, a phone call requires your complete attention. If you were to call me, the only thing you hear from me is, "Yeah, uh huh, oh really, nope..."

I do both. I'm not a good talker though b/c sometimes my wrds don't come out right. I like short hand but there's so many more new ways of typing wrds short hand that I don't get it until someone tells me. For example WTF, now I knew some of the wrds in shorthand txt but didn't know what that meant which is What the F... It also annoys me that ppl are putting in wrds for wrds for wrds like geni meaning genius or gem. Love to be creative with wrds except I know that it can be confusing to the other person. After reading this topic, I will try not to use so many shrt hnd txing.

I don't actually text a lot. I have a mobile but only really use it for emergencies. If I do text I prefer to use complete sentences as text language is confusing.

Text to the hand topic

My teens talk in MSN language, a lingo in which I am not fluent. I prefer to converse using grammatically correct sentences and spelling.

I hate to txt but I will if thats all I can do at the time, like in the library, a class. or the other persons phone doesn't work otherwise

I just will not do it plus my cell plan doesn't cover more than 200 txts a month.

I must be getting old, because I have only sent maybe one text message in my whole life. Cell phones are for emergencies only in my book, and I become seriously frustrated if someone calls me just to see where I'm at, much less text me. If someone sent me a message like the one in the first post I'd be totally unable to even read it.

I do use messenger from time to time, though.

I do both and I'm alright with it.

I do a fair bit of texting, but I HATE txt langauge - the BlackBerry is my savior with SureType which is IMO worlds beyond T9/iTap.

Otherwise, I would use a QWERTY phone or an iPhone.

I don't text people that often but when I do, it's in full (and usually long) sentences with proper grammar and spelling. If I'm going to be paying 12p for a text I'm damn well going to get my money's worth out of it!
