I did, once. I tried to be like this boy with AS in our class who says he's never shy, who's never afraid to talk about his interests, and he said he had lots of girlfriends over the years, until I learned a few secrets about him, then I stopped trying to being like him.

I'm an amalgam of little bits and pieces of everyone I've ever known/seen on tv/movies/music. I keep the bits that work for me and feel good, and ditch the bits that don't work or don't feel good.

Yeah.

(Hence my habit of quoting without comment if someone explains something I would have said)

I have tried acting like specific individuals many times. Often with disasterous or less than acceptable results. I don't seem to be able to pull off the same kind of behavior.

I have found that if you behave like the average of several people, you have a much higher rate of success. Unfortunately, this may also backfire.

I want to dress more like one of my close business associates. He seems to know what he's doing, and I feel good about it.

Years ago...the girlfriend of the rhythm guitar player of this band that my band was always playing with...
She was older than me...maybe 31 when I was 22....she was from seattle, and i really liked her accent...also she was really weird and eccentric...obsessed with monkeys..seemed to have very odd and eccentric paranoid delusions about certain things...um had a huge collection of green sweaters...looked alot like one of my favorite actresses...Amanda Plummer...
I really admired her, and sorta picked up her accent a little bit...and still have it a little bit...also for christmas, I gave everybody interesting vintage sweaters form the thrift store, and I mighta given her a bunch of green sweaters as well....

This was back when thrift stores were dirt cheap..and um...still had alot of excellent vintage stuff...which fed directly into my obsession at that time.

Everyone is a little bit like someone else.
People are who they are based on many things, including personality types. There are only 16 of them...so everyone has to be like someone. :P

As far as actually trying to be someone identically, I've never tried to do that.

i've seen how people act socially and have tried to imitate that, if that's what you're talking about. i've tried to integrate someone else's persona into mine to try to be more successful socially.

Like a good little girl, I took my therapists advice. I tried to be like everyone else. That ended in a suicide attempt, because what happens when you try to be like everyone else? You cease to exist.

I've barely emulated anyone. I wouldn't know where to start.
