To whom it may concern,

My name is Jessica Brady. I have Autsim. I am 25yrs old. I wanted to know where are video's about adults with autism? I understand about children and the need for the public to understand the need to find autism early. I propose this to you and your staff please think about it carefully. Our children will grow up one day, and become AUTISTIC ADULTS. Should the public not see autism through the years. The good , the bad, the understanding that this does NOT go away with age. No matter where on the spectrum your child falls, its lifelong. Many agency's stop help after 18-21yrs of age. Does this mean the child now an adult is not autistic any longer? I would love to see video's , information, community events and awareness about adults as well as children with autism. Autism affects ALL of us not just children.

Thank you,
Jessica Brady
A high functioning Austic in a world who doesn't understand us

A good letter, but also a wasted effort. They'll ignore it as there's no money for them from adult autistics. I'd rather try other authorities, charities, journals and newspapers, and everything but autism speaks.

You should send that letter to Larry King at CNN. He continues to broadcast so much about Autism and Autism Speaks.
What good are all the new screening techniques and treatment for Autism?...I am NOT a two year old anymore.

Isn't autism speaks a group that wants to cure autism too?

The only thing that would cure me would be a bullet.

They wrote back to my letter I sent them Here is what it said:

Dear Jessica,
We are terribly sorry to hear that you feel that we are not responding to the needs of the adult community. In the two years since the inception of Autism Speaks we have been focusing our efforts on awareness and early diagnosis. However, many of the people on the board of Autism Speaks have children that are approaching adulthood. As such, we have formed an Adult Services Sub Committee as part of our Family Services Unit. Our first project has been to help sponsor a conference for adults titled "Aging with Autism, Defining the Future." I have listed the link to this conference here.
http://www.autismwalk.org/site/DocServe ... ocID=22161
We are also in the process of working toward the following projects:
* Employment opportunities for people with autism
* Residential Options
* Recreational Options
Jess, as a mom with a teenage boy who has autism, I am only beginning to understand that as far as we have come with our efforts, we still have a long way to go, particularly in the adult sector. We welcome and appreciate ideas from people with autism and hope that we can work together to find ways that will benefit the entire autism community. We welcome your perspective and suggestions.
Sincerely,
Ellen Udelson

Good work! No one seems to care about any differences once one is "out of the system". I work at a college and we do have some Autism research going on. But, for grade schoolers. And no AS, as it is too high functioning to qualify for funding. So many adults were never diagnosed, as it is so new for DSM IV. What happens to everyone when they are tossed into the real world???

You obviously don't know much about Autism Speaks. They preach various cruel methods to make autistic children behave and believe in finding the cure. One of the ring leaders of Autism Speaks is in a UTube video professing to wanting to kill her autistic son.

Those kinds of people we do not want meddling in adult autistics lives. They are the very one's that would try to start forced imprisonment of autistics. Oh yeah they call that group homes but people have no rights in those homes. They abuse people for even rocking and they employ depraved scum who work for minimum wage and rape people for sport.

If you want help that's fine. But be careful who you ask for help and know that there are many adults that can take care of themselves. If you are just wanting a few services and live in the US you can always go to the Voc Rehab office in your area.
