Growing more intolerant of someone

I know as an adult I should be able to deal with this but I can't. The guy in question is just really not intellectually engaging at all, and its just down right annoying to deal with him. Hes the kind of guy whos a major "captain obvious" (For those who don't know the slang, it means someone who tells you something you already know well in advance) and hes just not a very engaging person to talk with or even play with online.

I told my mom, " Mom I'm telling ya, one day I am just going to erupt on this kid at this rate." Hes in highschool I think and ugh, I know I should be able to deal with this but I can't. Some of you may say, " Well just don't hang around him!" Trust me I do, its just he was invited to our Ventrilo server by one of my friends so I can't really kick him out. Its one of those socially awkward situations that I hate getting into.
