First, I’m okay.

The bus I was riding home on was in an accident. Two kids were hurt. When I got to the bus stop this afternoon, I saw that there was a bus coming – it was the bus before the one I normally catch. There had been some sort of incident with a passenger before I got on, and that made her late. The bus driver went flying down the road trying to make up time – she was travelling far too fast. At a traffic light, she almost ran into a pickup truck that was waiting for the light to change. She stopped short – violently. Everyone went flying. Most of us managed to catch ourselves and escape serious injury, but two children hit their faces. They were terrified, crying, and clinging to their parents. The driver seemed more concerned about filling out the paperwork than about everyone’s safety. She did call the incident in and the paramedics were called. She had the rest of us go on the next bus – the one I normally would have caught. I have to wonder if she was getting rid of witnesses. I called the bus company when I got home and reported the incident. They’re investigating. My knees ache a little, and I think I might be stiff and sore tomorrow (because of my rheumatism I don’t respond well to sudden shocks like this), but I think I’m okay. I’m drinking vodka right now to calm my nerves.

I've copied and pasted this from an email to my bf -- I don't have the energy to type that all again. I think reaction has set in -- I'm crying.

Hugs for you!! !

That sounds really scary. Glad you're ok.

Take it easy for a bit - you're probably experiencing delayed shock.

Thanks.

Yeah, I plan to take it easy tonight. It wouldn't surprise me at all if I'm still experiencing shock. I definitely knew when the adrenaline wore off -- I burst into tears. At least I kept going long enough to give a clear report of the incident to the bus company.

Wow, I'm glad you're OK. Maybe you should watch a good movie or something to take your mind off of it for awhile.

Its good that you are OK. It could have been worse. I'm sorry that happened to you.
