The comic strip " CATHY " has been discontinued , with yesterday ( Sunday's , Oct. 3d ) strip the final one , with the Oct.1 & 2 strips building up to it
Actually , i guess my link will take you to 1999 re-runs , which the Web page immediately started running the next day , you'll have to go back further - Well , AAAAAAAAKKKK !

This is certainly news to me. What was the story line for the last day? Please tell us! I'm dying to now if it brought some kind of closure to the story. Was Cathy finally satisfied with her life? Or was it just another comic strip of her being frustrated with one thing or another?

...I presume you didn't , regularly , see the strip anymore ?
Also , in case you might not have , in recent years , she and Irving , her boyfriend , had finally gotten married .
With that the case...
The last two dalies , on Fri. and Sat. Oct. 1 & 2 setting it up , in a flash-forward set " in the spring "... , Cathy and Irving visit her parents , and reveal...
That she's pregnant . And it's a girl ( A little " AAAK ! " emits as a thought balloon from Cathy's stomach . ) . How far along are you supposed to be before you take the test ( Saline ? ) which ( Among other things . ) confirms the baby's gender , anyhow ? Obviously she was thinking of that in setting it in " Spring " .
Those did not exist when I was born , and certainly not when you , so...
