"barbie girl" [and "ugly girl"] was a smile, though.

Agreed, all the way on the 90's. I can't in good conscience pick a favorite in the 90's. It's more a matter of which album sucked the least.

Achtung Baby is a great shout, I've only just recently got into it. I love the first two Oasis albums (and all their early b-sides) too. I'm listening to "in an areoplane over the sea" at the moment after so many people mentioning it.

Ahhh, yay! Someone else who likes Matchbox Twenty. Their my favorite band.

Third Eye Blind's 1997 self-titled album.
Collective Soul's 1999 album "Dosage".
Tonic's 1996 album "Lemon Parade"

The 90's were the best.

Rite on

Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Nothing can fade that. 90s are awesome and lots of great ones listed here. In particular:
Before These Crowded Streets
Rage Against The Machine
Siamese Dream

But IMO Blood Sugar is the best album ever regardless of the decade, it's untouchable.

Personally, I like "One Hot Minute" better. "Aeroplane" was the song that really turned me on to the Chili Peppers. I think the direction their music turned with "Californication" was really sad. Add them to the list of bands who USED to be awesome.

It's a tough question with the 90s being my favourite decade. Attack of the Grey Lantern by Mansun perhaps? How about Experience by the Prodigy? Then of course there is Blue Lines by Massive Attack. Radiohead's OK Computer was the first thing that popped into my head - only because Kid A wasn't released until 2000 of course ;)

ps I'm really liking the Squarepusher track that was posted upthread
