A treatise on a society in which not even artists communicate, by one of my favorite still-communicating artists - Kathleen Hanna.

Le Tigre - The The Empty

The stars are getting in and out of automobiles
And we keep wondering when we're gonna feel something real
Keep waiting for a Santa that'll never come
A real party not just people who're faking fun
But everything gets erased before it's even said
And all that glitters isn't gold when inside it's dead
All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold

I went to yr concert and I didn't feel anything
I went to yr concert and I didn't hear anything
I went to yr concert and I didn't feel anything
I went to yr concert and I didn't see anything

(oh baby) why won't you talk to me?
(oh baby) you just want me empty!
(oh baby) you don't say anything!
(oh baby) why won't you answer me?

All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold

I sat thru yr movie but I didn't see anything
I went to yr comedy club and didn't laugh at all
I went to yr movie and I didn't hear anything
I went to yr concert and there was nothing was going on

You don't say, you don't say,
you don't say anything........

Here is what I felt in each song that I'm going to talk about:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix song: Dumbledore's army, the song makes me happy and joyful and made me feel good about myself.

Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone song: Leaving Hogwarts, the song at the beginning makes me feel sad, but later on it gets me happy again and makes me feel like I'm watching Hedwig the owl flying into the sky.

Shrek song: Baha men best years of our lives, this song makes me happy and excited and makes me dance a bit.

Titan A.E. song: Electrasy Cosmic Castaway, this song makes me think about space and movie scenes that show people flying.

Islands of Adventure song: Banner's science park, this song makes think about good and evil fighting and makes me think about superheroes and the ride at the Islands of Adventure attraction ride, The Incredible Hulk Coaster. :D

Technically this is only part of a song (a 45 minute song), but I feel this part of the song is the one that hits me the hardest as I can directly relate to the subject matter, as I imagine a lot of people on this board could also finds ways to relate to it I imagine.

All the time. I can divine meaning from anything. Everything is chock full of meaning.

At the moment I think most pop records are hymns to ancient gods or goddesses.

yes, i think every true intense music lover derives some type of meaning from every song they listen to. music has always been one of my main ways of communication and with today's technology, obviously it can reach more people than back in the day where it was just a record player and headphones for that one person crying his heart out, etc through music. i mean really if music wasnt here, i dont think there would be enough reason to still be here some days.

I would like to amend my previous answer. Listening to it earlier today, I was again struck by Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega (DNA remix version). Ever since I was a child, it has felt like "my" song.

I also like Through Heaven's Eyes.

Right now I can think of "Clumsy" by Chris Rice, "Through the Motions" by Matthew West, and "My Place in This World" by Michael W. Smith.

Clumsy by Chris Rice

You'd think I'd have it down by now
Been practicing the thirty years.
I should have walked the thousand miles,
So what am I still doin' here?

Reachin' out for that same old piece of forbidden fruit,
I slip and fall and I knock my halo loose.
Somebody tell me what's a boy supposed to do?

Cause I get so clumsy
And I get so foolish
And I get so stupid
And then I feel so useless.

But you're sayin' you love me
And you're still gonna hold me
And that you wanna be near me.
Cause you're making me holy
Still making me holy.
... ... ...

My Place in This World by Michael W. Smith

The wind is moving
But I am standing still.
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled,
A heart that's hopeful
A head that's full of dreams.
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems.
Feels like
I'm

Lookin' for a reason.
Roamin' through the night to find my place in this world.
My place in this world.
Not a lot to lean on.
I need your light to help me find my place in this world.
My place in this world.

... ... ...

The Motions by Michael W. Smith

This might hurt.
It's not safe.
But I know that I've got to make a change.
I don't care
If I break.
At least I'll be feelin' something.
Cause just OK
Is not enough.
Help me fight through the nothingness
of life.

I don't wanna go through the motions.
I don't wanna go one more day
Without your all-consuming
Passion inside of me.
I don't wanna spend my whole life askin',
"What if I had given everything,
Instead of going through the motions?"

... ... ...

When I heard the song Born This Way by Lady Gaga, I felt like it was telling me to accept myself for having Asperger's Syndrome.
