I heard something once about research they did with the Clinically depressed and they found they had a very accurate view of themselves and their lives, on par with third party observers, compared to those who weren't.

Okay, let's go with this. A clinically depressed person has a negative view of themself. The "study" shows that this is accurate, or moreso than the self image of people who are not clinically depressed, which is likely to be positive. Apparantly, what this study is saying is that all of humanity is worthless and depressing. I can jive with that. I don't really believe that study exists, though. :)

Been studies in which the more educated a person is the more likely they are to kill
themselves.

That's what sitting in a classroom for 20 years will do to a person.

I really cannot speak for other people. But I think self confidence is often a form of self delusion, but it is a good thing. I want to build self confidence and esteem without being deluded.

And that's why I took up permanent residence on the top of the Tobin Bridge.

Yes, I've seen studies that show that realistic people predict outcomes more accurately, but that optimistic people are happier. I used to be more realistic.

Depends on the level of depression.

It has been found that having self-esteem that is too high is can be detrimental also.
