Who else thinks the whole celebrity thing is overrated?

I agree,the media is obsessed with celebrity and raises some nobody and then drops them when they get bored of them,so many people do follow celebrities and what they get up to though or those trashy gossip magazines would never sell.

I wonder if this celebrity fixation is more of an NT than an aspie thing,maybe us aspies on the whole are less interested in fashion and popular culture?

celebrities are people. not gods whose every step we should worship. there names should not be plastered on the headline every time they do a minor or major thing. they are like everyone else in society and should be treated as such.

I definitely do. Many of these people are famous merely for being famous. I like to concentrate on people who actually accomplished something in life.

Personally, I wouldn't go that far. I'm certain the reasons of their overratedness is because of their popularity and wealth.

Of course, I don't have either, so I wouldn't know what that's like. ^^;

Now, the question I would want to ask is if being a celebrity is really a bad thing. Is it?

Do you think this stuff applies to comedians and cartoon icons? I think I would used to here the daily gossip of what would happen in Inuyasha every day (even though I really didn't like that show). I think we just take interests in things and then talk about them.

And the movies then I think influenced flappers somewhat since they wore the makeup to look like the people in the movies. I love flappers <3

I actually admitted in another thread that I got my hair cut to a pixie style. I loved it from the maintenance standpoint, but it really didn't look that good.

I agree with this.

I hate celebrity gossip, celebrity fashions, and popular culture, and all that rubbish.

I tend to ignore it all, but sometimes it gets on my nerves.

All celebrities are are glorified, made up, preened over versions of us: they have to work for a living. It's just that their jobs make them known to lots of people and they get grossly overpaid (well let's face it, they don't save lives do they? They ponce around is all) for what they do. And they are appalling role models. They go off the rails more extremely and more dramatically than what lay people do, and then they sell it which they should be ashamed of themselves for. Real talent is being increasingly replaced by over-spoilt brats who spend most of their time in rehab for going through things that lay people can cope with then actually doing what they are paid to do.
