Not sure. I know for sure I can't sing in tune, but I can pick out melodies on my son's toy xylophone. I took an online test for tone-deafness and was unable to distinguish between pitch and volume.


If you can pick out melodies you probably aren't tone-deaf as actual tone-deafness involves being unable to hear fairly wide discrepancies in pitch.
That's interesting that you confuse pitch and volume. I can see how it would happen, since higher pitches tend to be perceived as louder even if they're at the same amplitude.

I was taught to play Piano as a child. I regret being so focused on the mechanics of playing that I never really got emotionally involved in what I was playing and so it was a chore rather than something to enjoy. I often got accused of playing without feeling, which was true. Didn't help that the music that I was given wasn't the sort that I find particularly emotionally involving, even now. I haven't had a piano to play for 11 years so I'm very out of practice. I do have a guitar which I play occasionally but I've never put the time in to become particularly proficient at playing it.

Ye i do all the time. My younger sister learned piano and i couldn't be bothered but as i got older i got into music production and have always regretted it.
