Quote:
Wavemetrix, a company that specialises in working out what customers think of products, has released a new report on the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. The report, rather shockingly, reveals that the "DS is better than the PSP in every important area." This includes games, quality, screen and value. The report is based on research looking at user opinion on a vast number of internet forums. It seems that while the PSP is talked about twice as much as the DS, it just can't compete in overall customer satisfaction.

Some people will just hate Nintendo no matter what. :(

The media seems to have a very strong bias against Nintendo. About a year ago popular science reviewed some sports game that was on all three platforms. Even though it was an exact port, they said that the Xbox produced by far the best graphics, the PS2 middle level, and the GCN inferior kiddy graphics. The only difference between the graphics was colour palette, the Xbox having a very colourful palette and the GCN having a somewhat darker and greyer palette!

But does the DS sell better than the PSP ? That's all that really counts, from the companies' perspectives.

Since the N64, Nintendo has constantly shot themselves in the foot when it comes to Consoles. But as always they excel with Handhelds, though I won't be buying a DS, simply because I won't use it functions, I will get far more use out of a PSP.

I hope for market competition sake, that Nintendo's Revolution is a damn good console.

The problem with the PSP is that it is WAAAAAAAY more expensive than the DS.

I'd get the DS, except so far there aren't any games on it that interest me- they're all simple puzzle games and stuff. BRING THE FPS AND RTS!!

FPS and RTS are imo the areas where DS can really excel, because the touch screen (in the absence of a mouse) is invaluable for that sort of gameplay.

There are some FPS games for the DS already out, and there are more on the way. They are also coming out with some RTS games, like (I believe) C&C: RA 3. :)

AoK is coming out on DS, well at least they're calling it AoK; they turned it into a turned based strategy game, which to me takes away the greatness of the original game. A good RTS would be wonderful to have on a portable.

I think it's all about about the gameplay. You can have cartoony-looking games like Zelda and Mario, and more realistic-looking games like Halo, but both types succeed when they have engrossing gameplay and addictiveness of the classics!

There are? The only one I know of is Metroid Hunters, and even that isn't out yet down here. We get everything late, and many things not at all...

The PSP isn't even out here till September... (i have mine on pre-order), though there is a store that is selling imported consoles, and games. Which is fine seeing as the PSP isn't zoned like other consoles.
