Hello to all

I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with high functioning Aspergers syndrome when I was ten years old. Ever since that diagnosis my life has been troubled.

Today I am in a position where I face myself being very lonely, depressed, and confused. I have frequent nightmares and physical symptoms every day of my life. I want to make friends and have a romantic relationship with a girl, but its proven difficult for me because I live in a rural area and all girls I've met seem to already have someone. I have tried desperately to meet other people and it hasn't worked for me. All of the groups or events I went to people were too old for me or non verbal. I cannot drive nor get services from DDD because my dad is giving me a very hard time with money and due to a lack of funds in our household, seeing a therapist is difficult. I need to desperately get out of this rut, I am hopefully moving into independent housing in about six months or so. My mom has injured herself and with no friends or any family I'm totally alone. I also have no hobbies, talents, or anything I'm really good at. I feel lost and my parents think its all in my head and to get over it, which simply cannot be done. I need some advice and good places to meet people for someone who lives in the middle of nowhere and cannot get around, and I am also not allowed to use public transportation as my mom detests it and I cannot afford it. I work, but the job is all older individuals, and all the younger people already have friends or a significant other.

Would you consider trying to connect to the older people at work?

They all put me down due to my disability and my parents don't give a rats ass about how I feel.

Get a bike. Don't go to meetups for disabled people, go to one for hobbies or regular groups.

Older people can be your "friends" in the meantime. It's really hard, but not impossible, to meet people. It will help a lot if you get into independent living. Good luck.

Not as easy as it seems. All people at work except for a far few are hard to get to know for various reasons.
