I've seen the episode with Carl in it on YouTube, and I thought it was pretty good. Yes, there are some stereotype things (like his special interest being trains, as mentioned), but it was an accurate enough depiction of AS that I related to Carl and my best friend related to that kid (forget his name- George?) who was Carl's friend and had to put up with Carl's monologues. 
I agree with MagicMeerkat about DW being very Aspie, though. As a kid, I, too, was very much like DW. She reminded me a lot of Ramona Quimby, another character I think was Aspie and was very much like as a child.

Perhaps it would make Arthur more understanding and kinder to her. George could come over and explain AS to him. Ramona Quimby always screamed AS to me as well. D.W. was and will always be my favorite character from Arthur.

The video was interesting, it explained Asperger's in a very good and easily understandable way. 
That kid in the episode reminded me very much of myself when I was that age, although at that time I wasn't fascinated by trains so much, it was Rugrats and Pokemon.
