Being Stared at by Little Kids

Has anyone else been stared at by little kids in public? Like someone will be in front of you holding their kid, and the kid is looking at you over the parent's shoulder and they will just keep staring, and staring and staring?

I've noticed this happens with little kids. It bugs me. It's almost like they know something is wrong with me (autism) and the sense this and continue staring.

Doesn't make a difference if I smile or make a goofy face; it's like I'm marked and they just keep staring.

I shouldn't take it personally, but it's happened too many times for it to be a coincidence.

I easily interact with little kids and make them smile. That would drive my NT partner nuts because she couldn't do that. She tried to rationalize why I could do that.

I think little kids stare at everyone. I don't often get little kids staring at me but it has happened before. I remember when I was a little kid myself I used to get other little girls stare at me in public, but I think it was because I was another little girl just like them so they were interested in me. Maybe little boys stare at other little boys?

One thing I do hate is when little kids touch my leg if they're in the queue behind me. They don't mean to, and it's not creepy or anything, it's just annoying. They seem to see my legs as a pole they can just touch as they move.
