It can be if you are suffering from a degenerative muscle disease like ALS. If you get worse you may never get better like normal people.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic, progressive muscle-wasting disorder. I knew there had to be at least one such disease.

It will depend on how much physical activity you regularly engage with, so if you're not active, and you never walk for as long as an hour, then I would expect five hours will be difficult and challenging. If you're physically active and regularly walk then you likely should be okay to do five hours, might still be some challenge. Hilly routes are more challenging than flat.

No to lose weight

I am 5ft7 1/2 and currently weigh near 13 stone which is not good

Average walking speed is 3mph, so it would suggest 15 miles, but might possibly get slower after a couple of hours so more likely less than 15, but more than 10.

Maybe just start with hour long walks, just to get a feel for it and how your body copes, and increase duration/distance over time, say every other week, or every month.

Personally though, I prefer shorter times and distances which can be done more frequently, takes less of a chunk out of my day, easier to squeeze into a busy schedule, and can build good habits. For example, a daily walk from the office during lunch break.

I walked all day once because I got lost and I ended in the Rochdale Infirmary
