I don't really know what my best strategy is going forwards. I've been in and out of jobs but haven't really had one stick.

Competition is tough in all roles at the moment. I know there's an attitude of oh just go into retail, go stack some shelves. However, I've been trying and it's difficult to get in.

I get plenty of interviews. I think I interview decently. I have experience in retail.

Hospitality is something I'm considering. I did see a volunteer role to learn how to be a barista. That could be useful. Although working at a coffee shop is probably quite stressful, there are always customers with daft orders. Still, the job market is a disaster so I can't be picky.

The last place I worked at has since been smashed in and boarded up, so, that's how things are going I guess.

It's difficult to feel motivated in the job search when I see so many closed shops, smashed windows and places left derelict. The goverment have put up mental health posters in the area. I appreciate that but it also really highlights how the state of things is impacting the population.

I know that's a downer note to end on but I'm feeling a bit lost as to what to do. I'm not sure where to best place my bets. What to retrain in. How to make myself useful and improve my chances. Or how to even go about networking.

I wasn't sure whether to put this rant here on in the Haven. Sorry if it's in the wrong place. Just needed to put this into words.

I have some temporary work now until January. I'll be searching again quite soon.

We underestimate the value of what we are good at.
Try to find a job that is easy to do. Some of us can do repetitive tasks all day. Some of us can solve puzzles all day and not go crazy.
