home depot reminds me of "survivor island", in that:

contestants get assigned random, useless, and meaningless tasks

the winner is not determined by effort, skill, or result; but by being "in" with the correct precious lil "people"

every week, someone gets voted off the island
_______________________________________________________________________

home depot differs from "survivor island" in that

it is not fascinating enough for tv
there is no grand prize for the winner, just a minimum wage job
the tasks are the same over and over

constantly terrified of getting voted off "survivor island" for failing to be "in" with the correct precious lil "people".

i feel like i am on a waterslide with a big puddle of feces @ the end.

horrified terrified scared ashamed uptight edgy disappointed disturbed distraught depressed hateful angry suppressed bitter resentful jealous inferior broke worthless

sometimes someone gets voted off the "survivor island" and then comes back.

some precious lil "people" get "immunity" from getting voted off the island.

plenty of random, arbitarary rules that do not appear to "make sense", or do not make sense altogether.

way too much unnecessary drama

Some servants and bosses act like it makes an absolute difference in the solar system, how many carts are in the lobby but it is all just a "game". Meaningless pointless

Just for entertainment but not for the servants' entertainment

it's weird how some bosses and servants act like the servants' and bosses' work is/are really "helping" anyone. they act like whatever they have the nerve to tell me to do is so urgent and important. but it's just "busy work".

negligible impact

"BS jobs: a theory". by graeber, claims that over half of jobs are meaningless. the entire home depot is meaningless.

almost every interaction with the stupid lil girl, supervisor angela w. (rolls eyes) (puke) is hypercritical, negative, rude, condescending, overdramatic

she acts like she's waiting for the Oscar panel to give her Best Actress award

she should've gotten made redundant a long time ago

i don't know which boss she's having sex with

if it's "survival of the fittest", i do not understand how/why it is possible that i could have survived 42 years and not exterminated thus far.

totally not fit for survival, or anything else.

but whatever. plenty of people are not fit for survival and some of them much older than me.

My dumpster fire "job" is not "helping" or affecting anyone in any significant way, except that if I don't do it, well enough, to idiots' standards, I get made redundant

It might feel better to work a "meaningful" job. But not everyone measures and defines "meaning" the same way. There is no objective method of measuring "meaning" per se.

I just feel like nothing I do is good enough for the idiots. And that nothing I do changes anything at all
