Hi everyone,

I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself. I’m a young adult woman with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, auditory processing disorder, OCD, and anxiety.

A big part of my life is navigating intense sensory experiences. I get easily overloaded by noise, lights, touch, or certain textures, and it can be exhausting just to manage daily environments. Stimming is essential for me to feel regulated—some of my favorite stims include toe walking, rocking back and forth, hand flapping, rapid finger flicking, and rubbing my thumb along soft surfaces like my baby blanket. I often need quiet or alone time to recover from sensory overload, and structure and predictability are very important in my life.

I’m hoping to connect with others who understand what it’s like to live with strong sensory sensitivities and to share strategies for coping and creating spaces that feel manageable.

Thanks for having me—I’m glad this community exists.

Hello and welcome! Wow I can relate to so much of the sensory overload stuff you mentioned. Especially noise. I also need structure and routine. I'm so glad you decided to come back to WP

Hi AB,
Welcome back to the fold.

I'm lucky my sensitivity is pretty much tactile.
I love noise, lights and the edge of a crowd.
I can deal with a moshpit or a festival for short periods.

But people touching me is like a sustained electric shock.
