^ Thanks for that! Yes, no doubt about the identification there - though your example looks a bit more up to date than the one in my picture. Not too surprising, as it seems they were manufactured for 34 years (1947-81).

A Ford Zephyr Mk 2 from an early episode of Z Cars, a UK police drama series which ran from 1962 to 1978.

A Ford Zodiac Mk4 from a 1972 episode of Z Cars. This car was the luxury version of the Ford Zephyr, and the Mk 4 models were produced in the years 1966-72. They had a very heavy, slab-like appearance which to me is unappealing, unlike the earlier cars in the series.

Here's the dashboard in the Ford Zodiac Mk4. Looks as if it might be made of walnut, and is not dissimilar to that of the Jaguar XJ6 and Daimler Sovereign models.

This could in fact be the top of the range Zodiac Executive version, which definitely had the walnut dash. Haven't been able to establish whether the standard Zodiacs had it as well.

A Ford Escort Mk 1, from Series 8, Episode 10 of Z Cars (1973-74). This seems to have been the standard police patrol car in this era.

A Ford Consul, a name given to a wide range of Ford models from the 1950s to the 1970s, but in the period 1972-75 it was given to the lower spec models of the Ford Granada. The colour scheme here (often referred to as 'jam sandwich') co-existed with the light blue and white one (see previous post) on police vehicles in the 1970s and 1980s.

A P5 Rover from the same Z Cars episode. These were luxury conveyances with 3 litre (straight 6) and 3.5 litre (V8) engines manufactured from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. They were used as chauffeur-driven vehicles for British prime ministers and were owned by Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

A Hillman Minx from the same episode. This name was given to a range of models produced by the Rootes Motor Company from Coventry, England, in the 1950s and 1960s. I think this is a Series 5 car from the mid-1960s. The red vehicle visible in the background in the second picture is a Hillman Imp, a very interesting car which is worthy of its own separate post if the opportunity should present itself.

1932 ford model a 5 window coupe (Abby Sciuto's car from NCIS)

I got this from Pinterest.com. There was one comment: it's still running??
My thought was this car's running days are over. It relies on wheels to get around.
I didn't reply to the comment. That would have been the wise guy thing to do. I'm not in a wise guy mood.

An E-Type Jaguar from a November 1972 episode of Coronation Street. Not often you see such a car on this show.

A Series 1 Jaguar XJ6 2.8 litre car from the same episode. This 'budget' engine option was generally regarded as being a bit underpowered, and was replaced by a 3.4 litre version in the Series 2 models.

Dontcha just love those early XJ6 dashboards? Maybe a bit impractical for the driver though, when stretching to reach some of the switches! In the background we have a VW Beetle, a Rover P6 3500 and a Triumph Spitfire (orange car), not sure about the maroon one on the left, maybe a Renault?

Is a Renault 3 or a a Renault 4 from the distinctive looks of it. Probably a Renault 3.
