I don't know why but last night I was watching this documentary about writer JRR Tolkien and there was a part which talked about the popularity of his stories and I don't know why but because they were popular even by the mid-late 60s during the hippie movement. I could feel as though the interest was slipping away because of songs and stuff making references to middle earth and it's characters.

I know this sounds strange I was interested in the stories since sixth form/college and some references in the media or popular culture doesn't put me off reading them like I do find it funny when there are mockeries about gollum. I am not really a fan of the hobbit but I like the lord of the rings, the silmarillion and other stories because parts of the stories seem darker and seem more "adult-like" than the hobbit which was intended as a children's story.

I mostly don't let other people put me off things I like.

I don't like when people intentionally try to do it and I definitely dealt with that a lot when I was younger.

I remember when someone here actually did put me off of a special interest 19 years ago. People were asking me why I wasn't posting about that special interest anymore, so I told them.

People put me off publishing my books, saying my book might be deemed "too offensive" or "uninteresting".

I have always done my own thing. I enjoy being different. If people don't like what I am doing, it just reinforces my uniqueness.

Yes, when people express their negativity it makes feel differently about the thing I like, and then I think maybe I shouldn't like it, in fact I should totally hate it. And then I have anxiety and obsess for days or even months.

In fact, it's a wonder why I like anything at all anymore. Nearly all of it was created by very bad people who should have been put in prison and I should just cancel everything. It'll all be canceled soon, anyway.
