September 2023, my computer got a pop up that said it had a virus and it told me to dial a certain number

When I dialed the number, some dude that claimed to be manager of security for (bank) answered

We were on the phone for six hours. He had the nerve to tell me to do some things and I just did them

He seemed so professional I thought it was legitimate

He asked for my bank password and I told him

The next day he told me to go to the bank and withdraw $24000 and I tried to do it but the manager told me that I had to have four forms of ID and I didn't. The manager locked my account

Thanks to the manager, I did not lose $60 000.

As a result I am afraid of trusting anyone

Also I have noticed that idiots tend not to believe the slightest thing I said, even when it is correct and there was little, sometimes nothing, at stake for them

Lately been watching a lot of videos about hacking and scamming. But hackers are great at their job and rapidly getting much better. I don't have the intelligence or common sense or anything like that. Critical thinking skills. To constantly keep up with the hackers. Hackers much smarter than me

Sooner or later hackers will be successful at taking all of my chump change

Thank Buddha I am already 42 and that's really old

Constantly overpowered outnumbered outsmarted

I only fell for a fraud once but didn't loose any money because I canceled my card and reported the fraud.

Group Therapy with a licensed PHD CGP therapist, spent $15,000 over five years of weekly 1.5 hours sessions. He turned out to be an actual psychopath, sadist, and emotionally violent and predatory person, and a personal cult leader.

My dad spent $10,000 on a ballroom dance teacher who laughed and shamed him, did not teach him anything well, and borrowed money from him and never repaid him. Something he did to one student after another.

According to the Internet some people say that in some ways, college is a "scam"

Especially non STEM majors

Especially lately, plenty of people with college degrees unemployed or doing work that doesn't require a degree

i'm so afraid of getting hacked/scammed

i don't even wanna answer the phone

one article said there is a "can you hear me" scam where the caller asks "can you hear me?" and when the recipient says "yes", the caller takes a recording of the word "yes" and uses it to make purchases under the recipients name.

paranoid

hackers are so much smarter than me. there is no way i could win academic competitions with them.

sooner or later hackers will be successful @ "nickel and diming" all my chump change. the only thing i could do to stop them: not earn $$$ in the first place. otherwise waste it all myself.

what's the point of trying to earn $$$ when hackers are just gonna take it away from you?

I am getting numerous emails saying my payment option has been declined and that all the data in my cloud is going to be wiped out tomorrow.

today a letter came in the snail mail that claimed it was from Columbia University and June 2025, it got a data breach that affected its students and employees.

but i have never been a student, employee or had any interaction with columbia university.

and besides, if the data breach was last year, wouldn't it be too late to do anything about it anyways? (statue of limitations).

so i took photos of the letter and emailed them to my sister. she used to be a physician. i am just a minimum wage servant. thank buddha she answered in two minutes. my sister is the least wrong person i have ever interacted with. she said i don't have to worry about it.
