Perhaps the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom are either so freaking stupid or even more likely they are all brainwashed and conditioned by Mr. Krabs that they don't realize the true dangers & risk of consuming Krabby Patties?!?

Hmm...?

I mean, you live in a society filled with people who eat fast food, smoked meats, etc despite knowing the health effects, people who smoke despite knowing the health effects, consume alcohol despite knowing the health effects, people who buy plastic goods despite their fears about microplastics, etc.

Are we all brainwashed, or is it just that reward-seeking behaviour overwhelms strictly rational thinking?

Humans often convince themselves that they're strictly rational creatures, but I have yet to witness one who actually consistently lived up to that idea. Even the people who insist they're far more rational than average regularly demonstrate they are not, at best they're much better at rationalizing their irrational choices.

I don't think they're brainwashed, I think they like how burgers krabby patties taste.

Mr. Krabs doesn't sell Krabby Patties because he's evil, he sells them because he likes money. He's willing to overlook the harms the patties cause because he likes money, just like his customers ignore the harms because they like junk food.

What an interesting analysis of our current society you created there @funeralxempire!! !

In a way, SpongeBob SquarePants is a satire of American society & culture

I try to be rational when making hard decisions like for example the marriage and parenting decision which never fully materialized because of David's sudden death

It is because of his recent demise that I have the term "Cardiac Arrest" on my mind in the first place and it's causing me to re-evaluate and be more mindful of what food I consume!

Maybe if the Bikini Bottomites were to be made aware of the dangers of Krabby Patty consumption they would stop eating them?

This goes for SpongeBob and his friends as well!! !

Yes, 100%. Just like other satirical cartoons (South Park, Simpsons, etc) one needs to remember they exaggerate the traits of that society to make their better fodder for comedy.

I believe they're already aware of the health risks, they just don't particularly care. Just like most people in real life.

As you describe, you're currently hypersensitive to the whole idea of cardiac arrest, so you're less able to just ignore it when thinking of fast food. Not that the problem is limited to fast food, restaurant food is high in salt whether it's Maccas or fancy 5-star dining.

Fat, salt, sugar, etc are all tastes humans evolved to crave because for most of our existence scarcity today was a bigger threat than a heart attack 30 years from now. We crave those foods because they provide energy and minerals we need to live.

Fortunately for me, my heart is healthy because I don't smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or have a compromised immune system!! !

David on the other hand, fits all 3 conditions!

That couldn't have helped him

Also, I would say I am too young to worry about sudden Cardiac Arrest...but then I remember even kids can have their hearts abruptly stop so it can happen to anybody at any time! !! !! !

But certain things like Energy Drinks can provoke it so I stay away from those!

Once I have decided (or God decides) that I have lived long enough and experienced everything I wanted to experience in life, then I will begin the same exact process that David did and my heart will stop completely!! !

But I'm not ready to die yet and Cardiac Arrest sounds very scary...

EDIT: As I have seen with David, God can just choose to take anyone he wants at any time!

This is why I MUST continue with the goal!! !! !!

It may be too late for him but as long as I am still alive, the dream is still alive!! !

As for SBSP getting into this subject, after re-watching the Season 4 episode "Best Day Ever" I realize this is what Mr. Krabs must have been alluding to when he said:

"Just until his little heart gives out, Squidward!! !"

In other words, Mr. Krabs thinks that SpongeBob singing about his "best day ever" will suddenly cause him to go into Cardiac Arrest and he will die?!?

The more I think about it, the more I realize how strange and out-of-place Mr. Krabs' comment truly is!

Especially in a happy feel-good episode like "Best Day Ever"

Does Mr. Krabs want SpongeBob SquarePants DEAD?!?

EDIT: But in real life, I just read some sobering statistics saying that Heart disease is actually the number-one cause of death for women not cancer AND the risks of Cardiac Arrest and heart attacks skyrocket after menopause!! !! !!

I am a few years away from hitting menopause but I might be slowly entering the peri-menopause stage!! !

Hopefully I'm not about to join David in the afterlife!

Oh s**t...
