No guarantees on this but check your Wrong Planet profile.

There is a field labelled:

Date of Birth ___________ mm/dd/yyyy

When you fill it in don't use the format the page says (mm/dd/yyyy)

Try the format: dd-mm-yyyy

Yeah. Use hyphens instead of slashes and put the month first and the day second.

Good luck and welcome to Wrong Planet!

My birth year is on my profile but for some reason it doesn't show my age when I put messages. Maybe a software issue? How can I fix it?

Interesting. I wonder if there was a change that happened awhile ago to make this not work the same anymore.

For me it shows DD- M-YEAR

There is a space instead of a 0 before the month

So if I was born on April 23 1978 (not true but just an example)

I would try: 23- 4-1978

But I wonder if it will work or if there's a bug for new members putting their birthday in, or something else I'm missing. Because I had mine set since '07, so it just carried over from whatever the process was like then. (I don't remember it being complicated! lol)

I did enter the dd-mm-yyyy but it still doesn't show my age when I a make a post. Maybe a software error?

The thread I linked shows a proven method of entering the date - it's worked for the person in that thread, plus many others, and apparently it's worked for squeeker here who is now showing her age.

To recap: ignore the instructions on the page and enter the date exactly as dd-mm-yyyy
No spaces, and only using "-" as a separator.
Don't forget to click the "Submit" button after you've entered the date.

So today July 13th 2026 would be entered as 13-07-2026

The age shown on my profile is now off one year. I put in the correct birth date but it shows 41 instead of 42.

Please copy/paste here exactly what you'd entered.

dev team could probably fix this.

To my knowledge, mm/dd/yyyy format is unique to the US. The site is hosted in the US (although talking about precisely "where it's hosted" could be complicated). Interestingly, it seems Canadians are having problems with this feature. Not sure why that would matter though.

Try reversing the MM and DD from what you have, see if that works.
