Hi yall,
My mom doesnt support my goal of being a small business owner. She wants me to be a greeter at Walmart for my career despite me having multiple college degrees. She has never supported my goal of being a business owner. She wants me to be self-employed and not have employees at best. She seems to think its unethical for a business owner to hire employees or at least thats the impression I get from her.

Every time I have talked about hiring employees she basically says its unethical or insinuates that. i dont get it because hiring workers is how every business scales under capitalism. Have yall ever met anyone who thinks its unethical for a business to have workers? My parents were not the business type so I would its a new thing. We have our oil company but its more of an investment not an active business so to speak.

Remember that there is a strong possibility that your mother has autism.

My mom had her issues. She did not want me fixing electronics for a small amount of money because there was a business in town that did that.

Autism is often inherited.

Can you fill out the paperwork to legally run a small business?
Fill out the tax forms on your own?

you generally dont want to do oil company taxes on your own. I am not saying that will be my next business but it could be one of my first real companies. Also finance company taxes prolly aint the best to DIY either.

Isn't that like playing a game without knowing all important rules?

Imagine playing baseball without knowing that as a batter, you are out when three strikes are rung up on you.

Oilmen pretty much never do their own taxes. Oil taxes are some of the most complex in the tax code. You pretty much need an accounting degree to do them.I have never heard of a oilman who does his own taxes in Texas. No serious oil tycoon does his own taxes.

My friend, I don't think your mother is opposed to businesses in general engaging in the act of hiring employees - I think she doesn't think YOU should be hiring employees.

That makes a lot of sense to me. It takes good people skills to find talented employees.

As well as a lot of money.

Why should someone work for you?

Folks came to work for Carly Rae Jepsen after she had a hit single and became a "one hit wonder."
Steve Wozniak designed the electronics for Apple computers.
Do you know how to find oil?
