what if I a really a sociopath (which would be preferable to me tbh).

Just curious, why would being a sociopath be preferable for you?

Probably because sociopaths get what they want.

If you ignore morality...being a sociopath is obviously more advantageous than being an autistic. Autism is a handicap, and sociopathy is...whatever the opposite of a handicap...is.

But if she isnt already reaping the benifits of being a sociopath then it could be wishful thinking, and she might not be a sociopath after all.

I mean...you don’t know me IRL so how do you know what benefits I have or don’t.

And they do have some similarities.

And autistic people CAN be abusive. I don’t deal with people who claim one group of people is all one way or the other.

If you were a sociopath then you would be a grifter making tons of money . If you were an autistic you would be a dorky nerd barely able to hold down a job. If you were a sociopath then you would be Bernie Maddoff ( a millionaire until the cops caught up with you, and then you would be a prison inmate). If you were an autistic then you would be like the Rain Man and be in another kind of institution.

I am being a bit tongue in cheek, and using stereotypes. But to make the point that autistics and sociopaths are two hugely different things. So which of my stereotype examples do you think is more like you? Rain Man, or Bernie Maddoff?

Ok. That is your opinion.

You didnt answer my question.

So...

Which of the two are you more like?

OK ...forget about a low functioning savant like Rainman.

Howbout a high functioning aspie type. Lets go with someone like Spock in Startrek, or Sheldon Leonard in the Bg bang theory.

Would you say that you were more like Sheldon Leonard, or more like Bernie Madoff?

Neither lol.

My brother had aspd. Not sure if he understands as psychopath or sociopath. He was in and out of prison all of his life. Lived an absolute parasitic lifestyle and never earned an hones penny in his life. He could absolutely charm the birds from the trees, was super intelligent but completely abused any trust that anyone ever put in him. I could go on but I won't.

In no way did he resemble aspergers or autism. His spectrum was completely different.

I think as diagnosed with conduct disorder at 14 and and borderline at 16 I don't remember this happening but I was in a young offenders place at the time. How I differ from my brother is a hat I do display some characteristics of aspergers syndrome but this may also be due to cptsd. Empathy and compassion are things that I have struggled with all my life but because I feel that somewhere deep down insid me I want to be o be a good person, I have learned to connect on an emotional level. Its not natural for me to do so though.

Oh yeah my brother died at 50 years old. This was mainly due to his lifestyle.

And most are like that with ASPD.

Maybe a few have some impulse control and are able to be successful.

But I am well aware it’s not most and I don’t look at that dx through rose colored glasses.

That’s why the one on here who is asking about Madoff and various TV characters is kinda annoying...it just does work that way for most/actual people.

Have you tried going on forums that specifically cater for aspd people to see how you may relate to them.

I do understand that a lot of people on such sites haven't been diagnosed with aspd and a lot are tourists or wannabes.

Yes, and there are things I relate to. However I do actively try and avoid most of the problems they get into by manipulating other people.

I do actually find them easier to talk to then some people here.

I may PM you about this if that is ok?
