Empty post. Probably unintentional on the part of the author.

When I clicked "My Account" and then "Edit Profile" just now, I saw the following, in the right hand column:

Quote:
Active Discussions

Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): No such file or directory in /var/www/html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1454

Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

But I am currently logged in just fine and have been for a while. So why would I be seeing an error like that? Weird.

That's another failing YouTube post - you can check a post's suspected invisible content by quoting it as if to reply.

And without employing trickery it's not possible to create an empty post on WP.

Yep, I see the same thing.
Something else to dig into...

Hi again Cornflake, I just tried something random that seems to have solved my problem, at least for now. I logged into Wrong Planet from an incognito tab on my phone and can now access all posts. I rechecked and still have access issues if I use a regular tab, even after logging out and back in again. Weird!
:o Gah, the weirdness continues...
But I'm pleased and relieved you found a solution. :thumright:

I'll try that on my Windows Vivaldi installation and see if it fixes it there for me.
I'm currently using my Linux Vivaldi installation which has never shown the error.

As others have noted, 502 errors.

Logging in from a private browsing window appears to resolve the issue.

^ Same error - but today using a private window = no error!
That didn't happen when I last tried it on the 13th.

Finally my browsing history won't show how much time I waste on here.

^ There's a shedload of stuff returned for a simple search on "502 bad gateway openresty" and all related to a server misconfiguration so hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Over the weekend, when the site was somewhat degraded (it's my impression it's in reasonable condition at the moment) I tried to post something and got an error response. I tried 2-3 more times, then discovered that if you look at the overview for that forum, the subject appears 4 times. Being embarrassed, I tried deleting some of those. Now if you click any of them, it shows "The requested topic does not exist." Can this be cleaned up, and again I feel very foolish to have brought about this pathological state of affairs!

Thanks!

I haven't been able to log in since around 26 july. It has said "too many attempts with wrong password" despite it's been my first attempt. After that my account has been locked for around 60 hours before I could make an other failed attempt. The change password link hasn't worked for me. This pattern has repeated itself until now. I am still using the same password. Am I the only one with this problem?

The "change password" facility has never worked at least as long as I've been here. Best method is to PM me your new password and I'll change it via the back door - or, AFAIK the "My Account/Edit account settings" route to change the password is working Ok.
This all assumes you can log on in the first place so it may not be that useful...

The "too many attempts" error is usually bogus, as you've found - the only way past it is apparently to wait out the time it reports.

It's nothing wrong with my "old" password. I am using it now because it was suddenly accepted today. If that hadn't happened I would had been locked out until I registered a new account? And that doesn't seem to work at the moment?
