I love this time of the year when I don't feel like I always have to put a bra on to even go outside to take my dog out because I can just wear a jacket or coat over my top.

Narrative: "Periods are a normal, healthy part of the average woman's life and you can live a healthy, normal life with them"

Almost every woman I have ever spoken to about periods: "My periods are awful, they make me ill, cause me great pain, are very heavy and uncomfortable, and sometimes I've even been bedridden by it

I wouldn't mind getting periods if it was just a bit of bleeding and some mild cramps that can easily be gone by painkillers. Instead mine are stinky no matter how hygienic I try to be, messy, painful in many areas including bladder and bowels, make me nauseous, have a higher temperature, are uncomfortable and as unpleasant as having a cold. It's why I call periods "vaginal flu".

And my doctor wonders why I try to avoid having periods as much as possible by taking the pill continuously without a break so that I'll only have a period two or three times a year. I just can't bear them. I feel so free without them. I would get it all taken away but then that'd kickstart the menopause, unless I take HRT drugs or whatever it is but I still don't think that's good for your body.

Ugh, who'd be a woman?

I'm so sorry you have to suffer like that
I don't think anyone could blame you for avoiding your periods if it causes you so much distress

I'm not feeling as broody for a baby than I had been feeling before. I think it's the snotty colds and sudden sickness bugs that children pick up so often is what's enough to put me off for life. I hate viruses and I try to avoid them like the plague (no pun intended).

I had awful PMS this month, it started around three weeks before I even got my period, which was around two days ago. My anxiety and depression were so bad, and my legs hurt and felt like I couldn't walk properly and last week I had headaches and my back was in a knot. My breasts were painful and my face felt like it swelling up and was going to explode.

And yet my actual period this month hasn't been heavy or really painful at all. I guess it's the Big M lurking around the corner. I know PMS gets worse as you age, like everything else gets worse.

I'm really afraid that the PMS will be really bad again next month, especially with the holidays coming up. I'm afraid to medication for it because the side effects will be even worse, I know. And I don't believe those herbal supplements actually work, they're just quack medicine, and they could have side effects too.
