Narrative: "Periods are a normal, healthy part of the average woman's life and you can live a healthy, normal life with them"
Almost every woman I have ever spoken to about periods: "My periods are awful, they make me ill, cause me great pain, are very heavy and uncomfortable, and sometimes I've even been bedridden by it
I wouldn't mind getting periods if it was just a bit of bleeding and some mild cramps that can easily be gone by painkillers. Instead mine are stinky no matter how hygienic I try to be, messy, painful in many areas including bladder and bowels, make me nauseous, have a higher temperature, are uncomfortable and as unpleasant as having a cold. It's why I call periods "vaginal flu".
And my doctor wonders why I try to avoid having periods as much as possible by taking the pill continuously without a break so that I'll only have a period two or three times a year. I just can't bear them. I feel so free without them. I would get it all taken away but then that'd kickstart the menopause, unless I take HRT drugs or whatever it is but I still don't think that's good for your body.
Ugh, who'd be a woman?
