Gackt <3 (yes, im straight, but I can still have a man-crush XD)

I remember Gackt when he was in Malice Mizer... over 10 years ago. (My hair just went grey.) I was really into stuff like Luna Sea (still listen to them from time to time), Psycho le Cemu, Raphael, Due le Quartz (ever heard of Miyavi? This was his band before he went all "Neo-Vizualizm" or whatever it was he did), Shazna, early early Dir en grey, and a bunch of random indie bands from the late 90's early 2000s. I listened to it almost exclusively when I was a teenager in high school, mixed in with some random anime music.

Ah, those were the days.....

While I've never been one to dress like one in the metalhead scene, I used to really like heavy metal. Rammstein, Iced Earth, Turmion Katilot, the list goes on and on.

However, recently I have fallen into an emotional trap whereby I find it hard to listen to the heavy metal I once enjoyed. Instead, I have been listening to J-Pop tunes a lot. Particularly Ayumi Hamasaki and her ilk.

What is going on?!

You don't have to listen to metal 24/7 to be a metalhead. Haven't you ever read interviews with some of the biggest metal bands? A lot of them listen to stuff like easy listening, jazz, classical, etc. I can go from listening to Cannibal Corpse to something like Sarah McLaughlin (sp?) without batting an eye. No shame in that dude.

#1 rule to being a metalhead: Not giving a s**t about what people think.

yeah, ive seen vids and vaguely remember some of what malice mizer performed. Old Dir en Grey I liked, as well as Hyde (really isnt visual kei, but a decent Jpop artist nonetheless) Miyavi does sound familiar, so im gonna have to look it up again. Yeah, got into Jpop like 10-12 years back, so thinking bout it is making me feel a bit old as well right now.

THAT is what being a metalhead is all about! :salut: :thumleft:

As a lifelong metalhead I can't listen to metal all the time. I need a break from it once in a while. You can have too much of a good thing sometimes. I like well crafted music written and performed by real musicians. Three of my favorite bands are Honeymoon Suite, Enchant and Marillion. Not what I would call metal but they are just so damn good at what they do.
