Who do you think has the prettiest voices in music, past or present.
Here's my nominations for past and present:
Female:
Enya
Loreena McKennitt
Tori Amos
Pat Benatar
Paula Cole
Bette Midler
Celine Dion
Janis Joplin (yes, she was raspy, but there was a lot of passion in there too)
Annie Lennox
Amy Lee from Evanesence
Dawn Michelle from Fireflight
Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf
Male:
Meatloaf
Paul Simon
John Lennon
Bono from U2

I agree with many on your list... but Amy lee's voice is so artificial to listen to.. Its not her actual voice is it?

I find Lenka's and Marketa Irglova's voice so very soothing and pretty...

For me, it's Björk, Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance), Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Kate Bush, and Julee Cruise (sings the
music from Twin Peaks).

I don't really listen to male singers often, but I'll add Jónsi Birgisson from Sigur Rós to my list.

My favorite voices

Male:
1. Roger Waters from Pink Floyd
2. David Gilmore from Pink Floyd
3. Till Lindemann from Rammstein (Don't believe me? Listen to Ohne Dich, Sonne, and Ein Lied. His voice is so coarse and primal, yet it can be soothing if he chooses.)
4. Garth Brooks
5. Bob Seger

Female:
1. Shirley Manson (Garbage)
2. Amy Lee (Evanescence)
3. Elaine Paige for "Memory" from Cats

Yes, he's a great singer. And as someone else said, David Bowie is awesome too.

I'm too biased to say, as I'd only choose singers from my favorite bands. :P

Ottis Redding
Stevie Wonder
Don Mclean

Al Green
James Taylor
The Bee Gees - in the 60s, before the falsetto outbreak
Thom Yorke

Whoever this guy is.

But srsly, Hansi Kürsch's voice can be inspiringly pretty when it's not an inspiring blast of manliness. He's definitely one of my favorite vocalists from any genre of music.

You obviously have not heard Apraxia when they were death metal, which is far and away the most terrible vocals I have ever heard in my life. Or Die Knodelmiliz by Trollkotze, but it has a LEGO music video so it is not that bad.

Anyway, in an awkward shift:
