I must admit, I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, although I'd prefer "anal retentive grammar police".

...and nobody even mentioned the use of the lower case "i" for the personal pronoun?

I have only had a few people comment about my poor spelling....my odd use of ()......and " " are just my way of typing my thoughts.I use them as a nonverbal communication......means not only am I statring a new sentence but I am pausing in my speech to formulate my thoughts.I would also like to point out that some people here have learning disabilities. If I had to worry about correct grammer and spelling as I would in a job apllication or a school paper.....I wouldnt ever post here.I think the "content of someones post is more important to me then the method of its delivery. But I hate the slangy text message spelling of words....except for LOL,etc. which I think is important for this type of forum.

Noticed it but I've learned to be more grammatically tolerant.
It might bug me but I tend not to say anything.

I am a grammar Rommel. I will fight the anti-grammar forces in the field, but I will not lead the grammar forces. However, if the grammarians become too extreme, I will stop them, too.

I also really hate it when people put an apostrophe before every "s", like in the sentence "Vampire's are killed by wooden stake's"

Yes, I'm a grammar and spelling nazi

In Mexico, people add one "s" to the second person past verbs. Maybe you can't understand, but there's an example:

Wrong: Tú caminastes
Correct: Tú caminaste (translating: you walked)

When people speak like this, they write at the same way.

I hate people don't understand this. My sister and I laugh when I hear someone speaks like this :)

Wonderful. It expresses my feelings and stance exactly.

With your permission I will re-apply that as occasion demands.

Speaking of Rommel, you will get -1 point for every punctuation mistake at the university here, if you study German. Never happened to me, of course. 8)

I am fussy about spelling and grammar, although the English language is far from straightforward in many cases. For example, plurals of words ending in 's' can cause confusion. I normally use an apostrophe after the original 's' and leave it at that, but apparently that is the 'old-fashioned' version and it is now perfectly acceptable to use an additional 's', hence "St. Thomas's Hospital".

England, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, America and Canada all have minor differences in their spelling and punctuation, too.

I take it there are plenty of "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" readers here?

The best description, yet.

If I could add just a little tag to that idea and point out that I'm more of a John Wayne, in that, I'm usually too busy with my own method of live and let live, but when someone needs my help, I come in with both guns blazing.

I never got the hang of correct poessive apostrophe use where the word ends in 'S'. This is why whenever I roleplay, any character's names ending in 'S' get shortened so that they don't.

That's good. You have acknowledged a potential problem area and taken steps to avoid it. If only other people did the same!
