I can sympathise, while I think djent is a fake genre name it describes the guitar name well.

Maybe we cna start calling black metal shreee! too

And we can call thrash metal chugga!

And grindcore "breee!" Takes about as long to say as listen to hafl their songs

Just like we call dubstep "wubwubwub!" and drum & bass "boom cha, boom-cha!"

Read this funny comment about djent this morning.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djent

"Some members of the metal community have criticized the term 'djent', either treating it as a short-lived fad, openly condemning it, or questioning its validity as a genre.

Post-metal band Rosetta said:

Maybe we should start calling doom metal 'DUNNN'."

Yeah, I've read that too. Honestly, my take on it is, regardless of what we call it, it's obvious that Meshuggah and Periphery and TesseracT and Animals as Leaders and Vildhjarta and all these other bands that incorporate the palm-muted guitar and volatile time signatures have a similar aesthetic, similar technical approaches, and similar influences among both the extreme metal and prog metal communities. What should we call it? "Extreme progressive"? "Progcore"? If people are going to argue semantics, I'm going to argue efficiency and convenience. People are already widely using "djent" to describe the music. Why not just go with it?

Reviving this because I have gotten way more into djent, and have found multiple good bands in the style. I don't consider it a true genre, but it describes the polyrhythms well.

And lastly...the only band I know of to make a Rush cover better than the original. Amazing cover!
