Im almost 73 and tumblr is my favorite site too. I too have over 1000 followers. I like how it takes time to figure it out... to figure out what you want to do... what you like... who you like... patience and practice.

I am bi and a feminist so I like those parts of the site too.

i have technically speaking, opened/created a tumblr account, but that was it, i never posted anything or followed anybody. i created it on a whim one night when i was chatting on FB with a near stranger (whom i now miss), her telling me about "self expression" and other stuff like that, convincing me to make one but never again touching it after that one night.

did i mention that i miss her?

No. The only social media site I use is Facebook.

I'm on tumblr a whole lot! Much more than facebook or any other social media sites.

What is 4chan? And I dont have one cuz I don't think anyone would follow me since no one has it at my school...

I'm not in my teens anymore [24], but I actually like Tumblr and have had phases where I got sort of addicted to it.

I like the anonymity; it is a nice contrast the typical Facebook/Twitter/Instagram that is prevalent amongst the mainstream.

Weird, I like 4chan for its anonymity Tumblr you will always be known by your account, but 4chan people have no idea to tell if you're even the original poster unless you sage

I've never heard of 4chan until now, it looks interesting.

By anonymity though I meant more of a disconnect from one's outside identity. For example, I can on Tumblr complain about something at work with much less worry than if I posed on Facebook, which contains co-workers, managers, potential recruiters, friends who like to gossip, etc.

There are some not so pleasant parts of the site for example /B/ is to be avoided at all costs. However, the community can be highly supportive depending on the board. At other times the community can be a little extreme. I would suggest looking into the boards on the left side of the screen like science and mathematics some times the most interesting discussions can be found there. Other times, the logical capabilities of individuals are in question.
