Cannot see it... ? I shall keep my avatar the same. Part of my online identity. I think Tequila would make a good mod actually...seems a responsible sort. But yes, it can be a responsibility, and you do have to find a balance between overdoing things, and not doing enough when there is trouble.

I didn't change my avatar - I just posted that pic as a joke... I don't know if South Park is very popular in the UK, but this quote from Cartman has become a pretty commonplace joke.

If you're talking Gallifreyan weaponry, you're talking the staser. Most everything else is called a blaster, but most sci-fi uses that.

Remember, Captain Jack had a sonic blaster, and was bemused at the Doctor's sonic screwdriver.....

Good policy. Is there a handbook, however, on what constitutes trolling? If so, please post in the Mod Squad forum. (God, Mod Squad... , I made a funny alliteration...)

Personally, I would think that's a definite yes.

Being the way I am, I would tend to give a poster the benefit of the doubt unless their post really crossed the line as far as decency is concerned. Knowing myself, I would be much more likely to either try to break up an argument and only locking threads or deleting posts as a last resort.

I'm still sort of perplexed as to what to do if a user is posting with a pornographic avatar. The only way I could see to get rid of such an image is to delete the posts, even if the language contained in the posts were benign.

I think locking threads that get out of hand is a good idea, and it can be unlocked once things have calmed down... I have seen a mod use that technique before and it was effective.

TM1, congratulation on your new level or power.

Alex, looking at the list of moderators (all of ones I know, I think are good), but there are some that are not yet "veterans".

That seems a bit curious to me. :?

and no, I do not want to be a moderator. Werbert would be jealous.

Whoa. Hey, if you need another, I'll volunteer. I'm on here pretty much round the clock even though I don't always post. I've never been a mod before.

Starting about 9 AM till 12:30 PM CDT I was trying my best to deal with the guy. I move what threads I could and deleted all his posts. I locked the main thread in question and moved but had second thoughts after what you posted in the thread Maldoror
"...let him post..." I had to go over my sister house about 12:30 PM so no telling what hell happen after that. But I can tell from your response early active moderation of such trolls is going to get a moderator accused of censorship it appears.

Yes that was a mistake. I was getting too wrapped up. : :( oops:
