You know, I've been on certain newsgroups where new users have a probationary status during which new users have to have each post approved by the mods. After they pass a certain number of posts, they are given full privileges to post, though the forums are moderated in the same manner that they here. Personally, I am not up to the task of approving each and every post made by new users. The thought seems overwhelming given the current number of mods.

I sort of like the idea of requiring new users to post a certain ammount before they can view more private forums. It would be nice to have certain forums where established members can have a reasonable expectation of privacy. I got really upset over one of the pictures that was posted recently, and wanted to post something about it in the Haven. But I ultimately didn't because I didn't want to give the troll the satisfaction of knowing that he'd upset me. Instead I discussed it with a few people over PM.

I like the idea of some safety zones, but still fear that they may make it harder on new members. My thought is that all of the really important stuff would then be hidden.

I do think that a site reorganization is in order, however. There are just too many forums on the front page. A heirarchical settup would be much easier to navigate.
