DON'T BECOME ANOREXIC!! It is often fatal, and I think that everyone should make the most of their one life.

Anorexia is a mental disorder. You can't elect to have a disorder. But you CAN elect to go on a strict diet.

Please don't go down the eating disorder road, someone in my uni died from anorexia. Don't they say change has to come from within, you only have to change you for you not for anyone else. If you want to loose weight get professional advice and do so in a healthy manner. If you start starving yourself you may end up hating yourself a lot or more than you may already do, it's a vicious circle. The only thing I can suggest is cut out junk like sweet and chocolates and get some regular exercise in but talk to someone who can really help. Take care of yourself.

I wholeheartedly agree...Please get professional help for loosing weight which will help you set realistic goals and guide you in a healthy manner... You are great the way you are...

That is very good advice. My mum doesn't realise that weight is a personal thing, for one thing. I plan on looking for a dietition in my area. I'm also taking the first step by not eating anything, after supper, when I go out with my friends. I only order tea or tap water. My mum's the one with the problem, not me. I was so angry that all that I had for lunch today, was Soupworks and a salad. I shouldn't lest anybody hurt me like that. That woman should know better, since half of her siblings are even bigger than I am. That's the same person who joined forces with my father in telling me not to talk through my nose, twenty years ago, all summer long.

Anorexia actually makes it easier for you to gain weight because it messes up your metabolism. Don't do it.

Do you absolutely hate exercise? If not and if you are not doing it I'd recommend talking to a doctor to start some sort of program.

Not eating, for example. Just drinking water or tea all day in place of food. This would be very unhealthy but you'd certainly lose weight.

A better one would be to determine your calorie needs and strictly monitor your caloric intake daily. That way you'll be getting what you need to stay healthy and still lose weight.

http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/CalRequire.html

Use this calculator, then eat no more than your BMR number of calories.

But you wouldn't keep it off. Extreme diets tend to trigger the bodies starvation response. While they do remove the fat more quickly, when you leave such a diet, your body tries to overcompensate, so that it won't starve again.

I thank all of you who responded. My mum baked some Chocolate Chip Cookies, and than she made some snide comments about my weight. That caused me to have a meltdown, and that's when I've started this post. I'm following Nutri-system and counting my calories. I also order water and tea when I go out in the evenings. I can't believe that I said that I was going to get down to 110 lbs. I have a large frame and I said I was going to get down to 110 lbs. I must have been very hurt and angry to have said that. If my mum was to know what goes through my mind, after she does that to me, she would never bring up the weight thing, again. I was depressed for two months. I turn to food when I'm depressed. She also presumed that I have Junkfood at my place, which I do not. It's just that I was ordering more food, after eating at me place, or the clubhouse. I don't do that, anymore. I've learned my lesson. She hasn't learned hers, yet.

... and then you put on more weight than you had before.

IMO there is no substitute for exercise (plus a healthy diet - low fat protein and lots of green vegetables).

Man, you should have been on Phish tour. Some pretty plump hippies. =)

Try some diet changes if you really want to, if you think you'll feel better, but don't go crazy. Crazy changes don't work, anyway. When I think I'm getting too big I try to substitute a nice big salad for dinner and eat a bigger lunch...seems to work ok.

I once tried to do it but I couldn't tolerate the shaky feeling I have when I don't eat.

I have had an eating disorder in the past, and my very strong recommendation is that you do not do it. Not only does it have the enormous potential to kill you but it can leave you psychologically messed up too. If you really feel the need to lose weight, be sensible about it, such as going on a calorie counting diet or the GI diet. But not the Atkins diet though, as this is also dangerous in my opinion.
