Alex can we please have a forum for older aspies over 30yrs old? If there is not enough room for another forum I would suggest getting rid of the women's forum because it is over-run with men anyways. If we have a place for older aspies then no one will feel excluded like they do now.

Yay!! Please, please, please consider this Alex, we really do need this! Yep, the Dino-Aspie cafe is great but not for everyone, and the ages between youngsters and Dino's have nowhere really to go. A lot of us would appreciate separate threads too, which we could have in a forum, rather than just a 30+ thread....oh, I'm not here, lol. Well, I had to pop back to support Bizarre on this one, it's a subject close to my heart. Off again now :) Good luck with it Kitten

I'll support this as well. Even though I'm nowhere NEAR the age to qualify (16), I feel there should be one of these, because we have Kids, Adolescent, Mature and Adult (even though, from what I hear, they aren't that different), so the older ones will feel left out with no place to "hang out", per se.

I've stated my objections, but I also support the idea - perhaps over my objections, if they can't be met.

The only thing I can see is that even though the women's and men's forums are necessary (although those peeping-tom men seem to be in the women's area a lot  ...ok i peek in the men's area too)...

but I have noticed sometimes there aren't many new posts in either sometimes....

I don't really care how old someone is...if I want to post something sensitive, I would just put it in the adult section...

but that's just me....

Oh, wait, I've got a better name! The "Old Aspies' Home." That, or just the "Senior Center."

Remember, old aspies never die, they just log out.

oh, Please, just call it GEEZERVILLE and be done with it.

it has come to my attention that you might be YANKING OUR CHAIN, Werbert,

if that happens to be the case, (and I WILL make inquiry)
I am prepared to EXPLAIN to you the ERROR of your WAYS,
complete with
1. wagging finger,
2. rising tempo and
3. breathlessly outraged delivery!

and you will NEVER cut across my yard again, young man!

Yes, that would be nice if 30+ year old aspies had their own forum. In fact, maybe someone should start a whole new message board for old aspie fogies. Sort of an "Asperger's elder council," to keep you out of us young'un's hair.

Yes and we only ask that you respect our AUTHORITY!! !

There are several hunky pictures of Kirk Douglas as Spartacus that are ripe for alteration via a photoshop-type application, such as replacing the sword with a cane, or the briefs with Depends.

I'm not real sure where a place for me to chat would be, because I'm 47. I'm still looking around the site. I'm hoping there will be someplace to fit in.

I might have to try that.

Welcome TRUE!! Just join in....I'm 40 myself.

I've found a lot of interesting posts from different perspectives...even if I am "out-of-touch" with some of them in my "old" age.

Thank you BeenThere. I just discovered that the "Post Subject" area is really tiny. I don't think I'll be using that in replies. It gets lost.

I've had it with other sites, I get beat up pretty bad (verbally).

I'm wondering how this site takes care of that sort of thing? Because someone on the other site posted this site as a suggestion for a guy who bothers me. When the guy was posing as something other than what he is. He does that a lot. And now I worry that he will come here too.

I've had some bad experiences, and a lot has to do with me not understanding what people mean and selecting the wrong thing by guessing. If I ask them to explain, they think I'm kidding. Or they get mad. Or they say I'm harassing them.

That's why I'm here. I figured I would be better off in a community of people that have faced many of the same things I have. And the older group would be good for me.

Not that I don't like talking with people of all ages, I do. But I'm single (divorced) and have no kids, so I don't fit in those married people chats, or the parenting chats. I'm going to guess that the dating chats here is mostly young people. Plus I have back problems, which has me disabled, so I don't work, and that rules out work chat. Never did get those unwritten rules at work anyway.

So at least being able to chat with some people that might be around my age would be nice for a change. That might be the only aspect I will find in common with others.

Hello True, you're a Spartacus fan are you? Hmmm, he was rather dishy.

I'm Spartacus. No, I'm Spartacus....etc. Great film.

Welcome aboard True, there's a good mix of ages here...I'm at the upper end of the age range
Sorry to hear that you had a bad time at other forums. This is the only one I've felt at home at. People here are a pretty tolerant, friendly lot. Hope you feel at home here. As Beenthere says, just join in :)

Thank you Starr! That is the name of one of my cats. I used to enjoy those Sunday afternoon movie features. I don't think they do that anymore. That was pre-cable, when 13 channels was more than enough.

So where would a good place for me to go on this site for overall chat, and for Aspie-specific chat, with folks my age?

I'm not diagnosed. I found out about Asperger's through a friend on the other service. He said he was Aspie, I asked what it meant, he gave me links, and I couldn't figure out what was so odd about it, since it sounded like me. I was thrilled to realize my eccentricities had a name and that there were other people that might be sort of like me.

Ah, you like cats...hehehe, well, there are lots of cat fans here. We quite often have threads about cats and post photos etc.

A good place to start, well, you could introduce yourself in the 'Getting to Know Each Other' forum, that's where most new members start, it gives people a chance to say hello.

Then there's the General Autism Discussion forum for specifically Autism/Asperger's related subjects (but as most of us here are on the Spectrum, it crops up in other Forums too) There's the Dino-Aspie cafe in the 'Getting to Know Each Other' forum, some of the older members like to chat in there...have a nosey around and get to know the place. See if any subjects take your fancy. :)

Ah yes, I remember the feeling, it's a real aha! moment when you get a name for it! I found out only a couple of years ago and came straight here. It's made me feel 100% better about my oddness, lol. There are lots of us True, no need to feel alone :)

We never seem to be congested to just one area though...
