At least for more things.

So ban me.

Ban you? Got any money, I'd rather sue you. Sue doen't mind, I asked her. She takes MaserCard too.

Mental matuirty? Hell, I can't even spell it.

I think that I could do with sue about now.

OP: I think it means intellectual maturity…mental maturity is just a nice way of saying it, i.e., much like in the NT world. You know…if you’ve got nothing “intelligent” and “thoughtful” to say; which note: I have no idea who’s the judge of that…don’t bother posting with the “smart” people, you’re not worth their time.

Everything I know now I knew when I was four, so I cannot post here…O damn….

So why exactly 28? Why not 25 or 29?

'cause someone became "enlightened" at 28 and they expect that's where it all begins for everyone else....

You know, it's weird. Sometimes I feel like a thirteen year old and other times a fourty-five year old since I can be extremely wise for my age. Thing is, I've been feeling like that more and more lately. At least since I turned eighteen.

Little do they know that one can regress.

On one test I took, I was the equivalent of a 29 year old person. (I'm chronologically 42). I just barely qualify. I think that age was attained mainly as a result of my educational attainment to date. I am behind the curve in other areas.

I believe the basic point of that "standard" is to avoid what's happened to the "Random Discussions" forum - now, it's almost completely dominated by teenagers (or people acting like teenagers) starting thread after thread about anime - "Recommend Some Anime", "Favorite Anime Characters", "Greatest Anime Kiss", for Miyamoto's sake; it's become totally ridiculous, not to mention boring to those of us whose perseverations don't include anime.

Further, discussions of relationships in such areas seem to begin to focus on teenagers who despair of ever finding a girlfriend (the posters in such areas seem to be exclusively boys) because they've reached the ripe old age of 16 and they're not dating yet.

By putting that on the sign out front, maybe it'll keep the kids out. I mean, it's not like you actually have to pass some kind of test or something to post here - heck, Ubby could come in here if he wanted, and if his parental units permit! Some of us just want a place where we can relax without being pestered by people too young to remember a Democratic President.

Yeah. I do have to say that many of these irritate me. But, I KNOW that some
of my posts are pretty irritating to others.

Sadly, in my current state, I find a lot more in common with these than I should, at my age.

I don't know that the warning is much of an issue though.
Some of the 'special interest' fora seem pretty much ignored
by the young as well. The danger is that of making it a socializing
forum, where people come in and say, oh yeah I feel that way too.

Still, I think that things seem to be at a good level here, and the mere
fact that it's a non-explicit adult section should make it seem pretty dull
to most of those that would damage it (and I'm trying not to, really I am).

My question is who's to judge that members all have a mental maturity over 28 when many of us Aspies act a lot younger and more immature for our age at times. I may be almost 34 but honestly don't feel any older than 20 maturity wise or not. Is that grounds to exclude someone? That is just a bunch of nonsense to assume that an adult Aspie that might be young maturity wise is incapable of -indepth- adult discussion.

Ah…I’ve figured it out: those who question the reason for implementing said illogical chronological restriction are indeed qualified to post in this discussion area.

Deductive reasoning at its worst.

I would say it is up to the individual to judge what they feel like that day, or moment they want to wander into the thread and post.

I don't see anyone kicking anyone out, but then, my eyes don't see everything!

Just make sure you don't post when you're feeling 13, or you could get banned!

You know it's bad when you have to worry about when to post based on how you feeling and all in fear of being banned. :(

I tend to share the interests of people in my parents' generation rather than my own. On the other hand, there are some areas, such as getting a driver's license, which most people reasonably expect you to accomplish at 16, that I haven't accomplished yet. All in all, I am fairly mature. I have been working at the same job for nearly five years, maintain an independent life while living at home (I reject the idea that you have to live completely "by yourself" to be independent. Some people need considerable support to "live alone.") Except for driving, I live a fairly independent life. The second floor of my house serves as my own "apartment." I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

I see, so this is sort of the "serious" sub-forum? This seem like a reasonable idea as "The Haven" concentrated more on personal needs.

ADDENDUM: Hmm...perhaps my description of the forum is less then accurate.
