yep, this very same person

the thing is: it's irrelevant. you're not talking about dissolving the police force, you're talking about terrorizing them. maybe society could be better without a police force, i don't know (probably not, but still, it's another matter entirely)

There was once a Laurel and Hardy skit where Hardy and some women were talking about being from the South.

Laurel then stated, "I'se from the South, too!"

Hardy then asked, "where from the South can YOU be from?"

Then Laurel said, "South London."

I'm sorry I don't feel the same way about the police the way you do. It must be hard and stressful being one, especially in cities where there is a lot of violent crime. You arrest a bunch of drug dealers at a crack house and the druggie neighbors boo and call you a pig as if you're the "bad guy". Picking up drunk drivers, and then they puke in your car, and your salary will barely cover the cleaning. Seeing horrible criminals walk free because of their bald-faced liar lawyers. Having to tell people their family members are dead. And all the doughnut jokes! I would never be able to walk into a Tim Hortons again.

But of course, they're a lot more useless in the States, like everything else.

No, it's American politicians where the only good ones are dead ones.

Hm. Well I don't believe the only good anything is a dead one, so don't believe this of police.
I don't condone attacking them ... But I also don't cooperate with them. Being non-cooperative is generally a nonviolent thing to do. I know their powers, I know what they can and cannot do, and thus whenever possible I will avoid them entirely or if forced to deal with them, refuse to cooperate as much as possible within the law.
Keep in mind police powers differ between states and between countries. A lot of perspective on WP is American-centric. There are limits to police powers, and there are consequences for police wrong doing. Sometimes, drastic ones. Investigations into police corruption for example have often landed many police with life in jail themselves. They don't just get issued a badge to shoot people up without checks like on TV.
Speaking of TV - if the only source of your information about any issue whatsoever, and especially about things of. Apolitical nature like the police, is the media - then rethink your whole position, because it's certain you aren't getting something free from agenda.

My grandfather is a retired police officer and he is a very nice guy. He spent most of his life in that line of work and he never had to shoot at anyone.

There are indeed problems with the police system but it's lot like you have to score a certain amount on a racism and evil test to be accepted into the force. The vast majority of police officers are there to serve and protect, and sometimes they even give their lives for that. A few years ago there was a hostage situation near where I live and the local police managed to stop it before anyone got hurt.

The police shootings are anomalies, they do not represent what all police officers are like. Sure they happen more often then they should and the systems in place to handle such things need improvement, but the majority of police officers are good people.

The Only Good Cop is a Dead One. Seriously. Just between by anecdotal experiences over the years, and the rash of police shooting/murdering people with zero consequences. And add to the fact that the police are literally not bound by any law to help someone in need until after the crime or action has been committed leads me to believe that they are worse than useless; with their pensions, benefits, etc. Not sure if anyone else here feels the same way, but for me at least, I don't want anything to do with them.

Incitement to violence is not only morally wrong and against The Rules, but it is also illegal.

Promoting violence is against the rules. Locked.
