So your saying the DEV site has been around since 2004/2006 ish and is a guinea pig for WP experiments? :?:
I'm saying there's always been a dev site. Think of it as a playground for the developer to test new functionality for the site. How long it's been exposed to the public I cannot say.

So you're saying the DEV site has been around since 2004/2006-ish, and is a guinea pig for WP experiments...
... and that it suddenly started showing up only now?
how do you know it only started showing up only now? do you have screenshots of searches you've done in the past where the dev site was not part of the results returned?
Where is YOUR evidence that it has always been there?

I have been (mis-)typing "wrongplanet.net" for over 12 years, and this is the first time the dev website has ever shown up.

If the dev site has been around since the inception of WP, then why is it only now showing up in search engines?

I just said I don't know how long it's been exposed to the public. There are a handful of reasons why it is now, but I don't want to take guesses.

Oh yes dev stands for development I guess - my first thought was "devious"!

It's Vlad P's version!

Or... a parallel universe?

It's the "wrongplanet.net" that is important...Having the same domain name means it has the same owner, as the domain owner is the only one with access to create subdomains such as "dev" or "www" and direct these to the appropriate hosting provider.

As to why it is showing up: maybe there is a "robots.txt" file that is missing an entry, allowing certain search engines that look for it to now be able to scan the site?

Strange...

2 days ago (and several hours past now), I tried searching a certain members location name for curiousity's sake.

And that's how I found both sliqua and dev versions of WP through google search.

I went in myself out of curiosity.
Because I've never seen it before, and the words I've put on the search bar as I found out was so unique...

This account on one tab, sliqua on one and dev on another. Yes, two sites.

Didn't logged-in in either -- and neither sites I'm logged in as this account while this in account is in it.

It's basically like WP with me not being logged in.
And yes, the idea that there might be a difference between this WP from there, or perhaps the other site/s being from an alternate world DID crossed my mind...

8O .. I didn't do anything weird or worth concerning by entering both sites, didn't I??
