It seems to me that you are quite an expert in your field. Tell me about your new Avatar, is this one of your own photographs? Is it a Heron? Forgive me if I am wrong.

Yes, it is one of my photos, I just took it earlier today, I saw it in the river and thought it would make a good photo subject...
It is a Great Egret, indeed a species of Heron. They are native to many parts of the world! They are predators and eat fish, frogs, etc... They used to be hunted for their beautiful breeding season back plumes for women's hats. They are the symbol of the National Audubon Society. Right now is the main time of year they are seen in my area, they go through a fall dispersal phase where they wander widely when their breeding season is over.

Thank you that's so interesting! Yes feathers in hats were fashionable for centuries.
Do you live close by the river or do you drive? It must be magical to sit quietly and observe the river. One of my favourite books is the Wind in the Willows but that's more about rodents, toads, moles, badgers and weasels. On the riverbank.

I live pretty close to the river, I spotted this bird while driving next to it.

I found another pretty good Americorps position to apply to, 11 month position out west, environmental education and raptor handling... Pretty similar to my first internship and it advertised they are fully accessible and make accomodations for disabled people... plus they have interviewed me before, but didn't quite get it... I have kinda an iffy past with Americorps though because I failed one position and another one I got last year I ended up not having the means to move... But the benefit of Americorps is that as part of the program, people on disability don't lose their benefits and they collect the stipend on top of it.

I found another interesting position to apply to... There is a temporary remote position analyzing drone and camera trap pictures of nesting wading birds in Florida and interpreting the data...
Anyway I'm waiting for word from the hawk watch job still... They are gonna close the job announcement either today or tomorrow but it starts early next month... Yeah soon so I'm hoping to hear from them soon...
