Right-Wingers Might Want to Stop Calling LGBTQ "Groomers"
Political Correctness is America's newest form of intolerance, and it is especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance. It presents itself as fairness, yet attempts to restrict and control people's language with strict codes and rigid rules. I am not sure that is the way to fight discrimination. I'm not sure silencing people or forcing them to alter their speech is the best method for solving problems that go much deeper than speech.
I am politically incorrect, that much is true. Political Correctness to me is intellectual terrorism. I find that really scary, and I won't be intimidated into changing my mind.
Political Correctness is also a form of Censorship; and Censorship is a form of mind-control. Do you really want the government to tell you what you can and cannot say . . . or even think?

Here is a description of Sweden's anti-hate speech law:
Here is how right-wingers interpret such laws:

In other words: "Waaaaaa, I can't call LGBT people hurtful names on social media! I'm being persecuted! Waaaaaaaa!"
If that is considered "persecution", it is very well-deserved.

I agree, it's one of those things that might seem attractive when people are saying things that we think are harmful. But, the moment such distinctions are drawn you get the risk of it slipping in ways that are less desirable.
Ultimately, even if this stuff did become illegal, it would still happen and in most cases, it makes far more sense to just teach people how to be more resilient. Admittedly, that does kind of suck, but it's probably the least terrible option.

Autistic people are the last people who should want censorship because we do often think differently and are a minority which makes it easier to censor our opinions.
If hate speech laws are allowed someday it might become illegal to advocate against a mandatory cure. Supporters of such a law will say opponents are grooming kids to believe a horrific disease that robs people of their empathy and ability to socialize financially burdening parents and society is just a normal human variation.
Getting back on topic it is valid to argue since “gender affirming care” is only recently not fringe treatments the long term effects of treatments such as puberty blockers have not been adequately tested. That is the reason why England, Sweden, and The Netherlands after being ahead of the U.S. in rolling out these treatments are putting major limits on them.
By yelling “Groomer”, “Groomer”, “Groomer” and falsely claiming young kids are regularly undergoing sex change operations they have conflated anybody holding the opinion above with transphobics.
I would think it would be highly offensive for victims of groomers.

If it was illegal some people with those hateful views may keep it to themselves, which would make it harder to identify bigots. If they can openly spew hate speech then more people can see them for who they are.
There is the downside that hate speech can lead to hate crimes by getting people worked up and encouraging them. So, I suppose I could say I am on the fence as to whether it would be better to ban hate speech or not.

It's about cracking down on bullying and cyberbullying of LGBT people, many of whom are murdered, commit suicide or are shunned by their own family and forced to live on the streets.
What else can we do, ban suicide?
I saw a YouTube video of a fundamentalist preacher saying that LGBT should stand for "Let God Burn Them", and that if a gay person asked him for advice, he would tell that person to "kill himself before he could molest my kids".
Maybe we should ban religion altogether, like Albania did from 1967-1990.

The persecution complex usually sounds like "If I can't say whatever I want about other people that's censorship but if they say what they want about me that's censorship".

^^Here's more proof as to why hate speech needs to be criminalized.

They were doubtless meant as a joke, but promoting a criminal act in any guise could so easily backfire on the poster and WP itself. Please be more careful with the rhetoric - simpler things have been reported to law enforcement in the past, with dramatic and far-reaching consequences for the poster. He wasn't being serious either. |

I know in Britain we have (or at least we used to have, I'm not sure what our current government has changed) anti hate speech laws for the public area. If someone stands around in public giving a hate speech they will be arrested and taken away by the police, end of.
